We build WebLOAD, one of the alternatives below, so you know where we stand. We also tell you where BlazeMeter still wins.
BlazeMeter earns its popularity as an on-ramp. It wraps open source engines (JMeter, Taurus, k6, Gatling) in a managed cloud with clean reporting, and the free tier gets a first test running in an afternoon. In our 30 years of load testing we have watched many teams start there, and we meet them again when they hit one of three walls. Test duration caps: 20 minutes free, 1 hour on Basic, 5 hours on Pro, so a proper soak test requires a custom Unleashed contract. The VUH meter: Pro includes 80,000 virtual user hours a year, and a heavy test cadence turns that into a budget line. Protocol ceilings: the open source engines underneath were never taught SAP, Oracle Forms or Citrix. If one of those walls is yours, the alternatives below come with published numbers.
What BlazeMeter charges (their published prices)
The table below shows BlazeMeter’s prices, taken from their pricing page. WebLOAD’s price appears separately, right after it.
| Plan | Price | Concurrent users | Max test duration | Key gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 50 | 20 min | 10 tests per month, shared generator |
| Basic | $99 per month | 1,000 | 1 hour | 200 tests per year |
| Pro | $499 per month | 5,000 | 5 hours | 80,000 VUH per year |
| Unleashed | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | On premises, dedicated IPs, SSO; sales only |
Prices shown are with annual billing. Paying month to month, Basic is $149 and Pro is $649.
Same $499, two different ceilings
BlazeMeter Pro and WebLOAD Pro cost the same per month with annual billing. What the money buys is where they part ways:
| BlazeMeter Pro — their $499/mo | WebLOAD Pro — our $499/mo |
|---|---|
| Tests capped at 5 hours | Overnight soak tests included |
| 80,000 virtual user hours per year, then you negotiate | 5,000 VU hours per month, every month |
| Protocols limited to the open source engines | Path to SAP, Oracle Forms, Salesforce in Enterprise |
| Up to 5,000 concurrent users | Up to 500 concurrent users; Enterprise removes the cap |
The 6 alternatives
1. WebLOAD, for enterprise protocols and long tests without a custom contract
WebLOAD Pro costs $499 per month for up to 500 concurrent virtual users on SaaS. Enterprise runs on premises or SaaS, from 100 to 100,000+ virtual users, and covers SAP, Oracle Forms, Salesforce, MQ and JMS, the stack BlazeMeter’s engines never reach. You script in JavaScript, the recorder handles correlation, and an overnight soak test is a scenario setting rather than a tier upgrade. The trial runs 15 days with 50 virtual users and no credit card, and our performance engineers work with you during it.
2. Grafana Cloud k6, for developer centric API testing
If your tests live in Git and your dashboards live in Grafana, k6 keeps the whole workflow in JavaScript. The ceiling matches the one BlazeMeter has with its k6 engine: thin legacy protocol coverage, and costs that track VUH consumption.
3. OpenText LoadRunner, for the deepest protocol catalog
LoadRunner remains the protocol benchmark with 180+ protocols, and it fits organizations already invested in the OpenText estate. You pay for that depth in license cost and operational weight. It is also the tool teams most often migrate away from, as our user migration stories show.
4. Gatling Enterprise, for Scala and Java engineering teams
The engine is efficient and the workflow is code first. Protocol coverage centers on web and APIs, and enterprise pricing is quote based.
5. Apache JMeter self hosted, for zero license cost
JMeter without BlazeMeter costs nothing in licenses. You pay in engineering time: building the distributed grid, keeping the reports alive, and maintaining correlation by hand. Our k6 vs JMeter vs WebLOAD comparison prices the point where DIY stops being cheap.
6. Tricentis NeoLoad, for Citrix, SAP GUI and Tosca shops
Strong desktop protocol coverage and tight Tricentis suite integration, with a published entry point around $20,000 a year for 300 virtual users. The full picture is in our NeoLoad comparison.
Where BlazeMeter still wins
Short, frequent API tests in CI, run by engineers who already script JMeter or k6. The Basic tier at $99 a month is hard to beat for that job. The platform turns expensive when tests get long, heavy, or enterprise protocol shaped.
How to choose
Price the next 12 months of your actual test plan instead of the subscription: tests per month, times duration, times virtual users, against each vendor’s meter. One weekly soak run of 4 hours at 2,000 virtual users comes to about 416,000 VUH a year, five times what BlazeMeter Pro includes, before you have tested a release candidate twice. If your plan includes soak tests or back office protocols, start the WebLOAD 15 day trial with your heaviest scenario, or book a demo and we will size it with you.

Bring your heaviest scenario. 15 days, 50 virtual users, no credit card.
Start the 15 day free trial Book a demo →The wall you hit picks the tool. For enterprise protocols such as SAP and Oracle Forms, and for long soak tests, WebLOAD. For code first API testing, Grafana Cloud k6. For the largest protocol catalog inside an OpenText estate, LoadRunner. For zero license cost with high engineering tolerance, self hosted JMeter.
Three walls come up in reviews and in our migration calls: test duration caps (a soak test beyond 5 hours requires the custom Unleashed tier), the 80,000 VUH per year meter on Pro, and protocol limits inherited from the open source engines underneath, which never covered SAP, Oracle Forms or Citrix.
Yes. Your JMX files are standard JMeter and run on any JMeter compatible platform or a self hosted grid. Moving to a different engine such as k6, Gatling or WebLOAD means re-recording the scenarios, and vendors assist with that during a trial.
A free tier exists: 50 concurrent users, 10 tests per month, and a 20 minute maximum duration on one shared load generator. It fits an evaluation, and a release testing cadence outgrows it fast.
