| Support for a Variety of Legacy Protocols |
Many of today's server-based applications are developed to utilize the sophisticated graphical capabilities of PC's and browsers for user input and display. This was not always the case, and traditionally, most server-based applications made use of proprietary terminals as the primary user interface device. These terminals were later replaced by terminal emulation software that still supports the original terminals’ proprietary protocols. For example, the IBM 327x Terminal and IBM 525x Terminal family of protocols.
Other legacy systems based on VAX/VMS or Unix architecture use different types of terminal emulation protocols, emulating the VT family of terminals. Most of these applications will also support general purpose protocols such as Telnet and SSH, sending block-mode application data over the wire.
Testing these applications is generally done by manually entering many screen-based transactions and verifying the responses as they are received. Performance testing of these applications can be easily achieved by taking a single user business process and multiplying it to create a multi-user scenario.
WebLOAD Professional supports easy creation of test scripts and execution of complex multi-user performance tests for the following legacy terminal emulation protocols:
- IBM 327x
- IBM 4690 POS
- Telnet
- SSH
