| Uniquely Designed for HTTP/S Applications |
From its inception, WebLOAD was designed and built as a load testing tool for Internet applications. WebLOAD inherently supports the creation and execution of load-testing scripts (Agendas) for the performance testing of Internet applications, using the common HTTP/S protocol.
Recording of business processes is done using a proxy-recorder. The test script creation is done by recording all HTTP/S traffic between the web browser (or any other web client) and the application's web server. All that remains to be done is to use the application in a normal usage scenario and a WebLOAD Agenda will be automatically created as a result of the recording process.
No specific configuration of your web browser is needed (if using one of the common browsers, IE or Firefox). WebLOAD will automatically configure your browser before the recording and will revert to its previous settings when the recording is done.
You can filter the recording of the HTTP/S traffic by content type or file extension, and by that limit the recorded traffic only to the essential components.
WebLOAD's Integrated Development Environment (IDE) provides an integrated tool for the recording, authoring and debugging of the test scripts. The IDE includes multiple data views showing HTTP traffic in real-time during recording. This includes HTTP header views and additional views (HTML View, browser preview) that show all HTTP objects such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images. The returned HTML is parsed into its Document Object Model (DOM) and displayed in a special DOM View. All this data is saved and can be viewed while editing the script and during playback.
Encrypted sessions using SSL and HTTP/S can also be recorded without any special configuration or user intervention. If the application requires authentication by means of a username and password, these will also be recorded as part of the script and according to the authentication method used (basic HTTP authentication, NTLM or Kerberos).
The resulting WebLOAD test script is written in JavaScript. This standard, ubiquitous scripting language is the most commonly used in web application development and is the best language for creating and editing test scripts. WebLOAD adds numerous extension objects and functions to the standard JavaScript, enabling advanced scripting and more logic in the test script. Such advanced scripting can be used to parameterize requests and to initiate verification of responses. This can be done by using direct access to the returned pages or the Document Object Model (DOM). Additional logic can be added to already recorded HTTP/S scripts using other IP-based protocols. These protocols can be used to launch other system components. Additional protocols are available for accessing database systems, such as Oracle and MSSQL.
