| Support for a Variety of Internet Protocols |
WebLOAD Professional supports the creation of performance test scripts for a variety of commonly-used internet protocols. These protocols are part of WebLOAD’s Internet Productivity Pack (IPP). Although modern web applications rely almost solely on HTTP-based protocols, some implementations use additional IP family protocols to provide their functionality. This family of protocols include Application Layer (according to the TCP/IP model) protocols such as LDAP, FTP, NNTP, POP3, SMTP, IMAP, TELNET and SSH. In addition, it includes the Transport Layer protocols of TCP and UDP.
WebLOAD’s Building Blocks framework make the building of a script using any of these protocols a simple task. If needed, it is also possible to mix and match different protocols. For example, a business process requires downloading a file using FTP and then sending it as an email attachment using SMTP. This can be done in a single script. Moreover – it is possible to combine these protocols with HTTP/S to create scripts that are even more complex.
WebLOAD`s Internet Productivity Pack (IPP) can be used not only to test an application using the protocols mentioned above, but also to extend and test additional IP-based protocols. For example, if we need to test an LMTP service, it can be easily implemented based on the TCP protocol – We just compose the correct packets and we’re ready to test! This kind of implementation can be done by writing JavaScript code or by using WebLOAD`s JAVA Object extension that enables calling on external POJOs exposed by JARs that are seamlessly imported by WebLOAD.
